TPAN - MBA/ Masters of Engineering Joint Degree at University of Alberta

Combine advanced engineering knowledge with managerial skills for a competitive advantage in the global marketplace. Designed for those with an undergraduate degree in Engineering, our joint MBA/MEng Program positions you to take a leadership role in business.

The Alberta School of Business in partnership with the Faculty of Engineering offers the joint MBA/MEng that can be completed full-time in two years or on a part-time basis in up to six years. This unique program allows individuals with an undergraduate degree in engineering the opportunity to combine management courses with further studies in a field of engineering.

Success in engineering and management requires the ability to synthesize complex and sometimes divergent points of view into a cohesive, practical solution. Leadership, teamwork, and initiative will play an important role in your experience in the joint program as you work in teams to solve problems and define innovative solutions.

The Program
In Year One students study the key areas of business: accounting, economics, finance, management science, marketing, strategy and organizational behaviour. In Year Two the primary focus is on courses within the student’s engineering discipline. Students select graduate level engineering courses from the appropriate engineering department: chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, materials, mining, mechanical or petroleum engineering.

The number of engineering courses required depends on the specific discipline. Students enrolled in the joint program have the option of completing a summer internship in a related field. An engineering project and a business strategy course complete the program requirements.
