The Desautels Faculty of Management, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law, offers a joint MBA/Law degree. This program prepares students for admission to the Quebec legal profession as well as for admission to the Bars of the Common Law Provinces. The joint program may be completed in 4-4½ years.

The combined degree program has been designed for those students who are interested in both the legal and administrative aspects of business. It gives them the opportunity to prepare themselves for careers in both private and public enterprises, government service, large corporations, and as management consultants. Because of the specialized training in these complimentary fields – law and management – the career possibilities open to graduates from the program will be particularly exciting and challenging.

Admission requirements

There are two possible options for admission to the joint program.

Students who are currently enrolled in the Faculty of Law may apply for the joint program during thier 2nd year of law.

Prospective students who are interested in applying for the joint program must apply to both the Faculty of Law and the Desautels Faculty of Management. They must meet the admission requirements for both Faculties. For Law, students must demonstrate a substantial fluency in both the French and English languages. If accepted to the joint program, students may begin their first year in the MBA program with a guarantee of admissions to Law the following year, providing they successfully complete the first year MBA program requirements.

Minimum requirements for admission to the Desautels Faculty of Management MBA program:

An undergraduate degree from an accredited university, with a grade point average of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 ("B" average).
The GMAT (Graduate Admissions Test) with an average score of 650.
If you earned a Bachelor degree outside Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand or the United Kingdom, you are required to take the TOEFL. The TOEFL is not waived for four-year university programs whose language of instruction is English if the university is located in a non-English speaking Country. Canadian Citizens or applicants with at least three years landed immigrant status may request a TOEFL waiver. A minimum score of 600 on the paper-based test or 250 on the computer-based test is required.
A Minimum of one year of full-time work experience is preferred, following graduation from your undergraduate degree.

The combined program is available to full-time students only. Candidates who have been granted exemptions in either Faculty will be required to take substitute courses in their place and candidates who have been granted advance standing in Law or MBA will not be eligible for the program.
